Take Your Medicine.. Ball!!!

Why do they call it a Medicine Ball anyway??? I like to think that it's because if you get hit in the face with one, you'll need medicine to wake up... Actually, Medicine Balls originated during the time periods of the ancient greek civilization. They were originally made from animal skins and filled with sand!! Blehh!! Can you imagine making those things?!?!?! Yummy... Medicine Balls are great tools to help develop explosive strength and muscular power. There's a few thing you gotta know before you pick one up and toss it around "willy-nilly...", whatever that means: 1) Keep your eye on the ball ALWAYS. It could me the difference between a mouth full of teeth, or a mouth built like a picket fence...with pieces missing... 2) Pick a medicine ball that is about 10 % of your bodyweight to begin with, and when it becomes too light for you ( which it will WHEN you follow your program), then get another one that's a couple of pounds heavier, and decrease the reps of the movements in your current program. The name of the game is SAFE progression. 3) If you're going go throw the thing around, pleas make sure you do so outside. Although it is a ball, it's pretty much a rubbery brick... and it can damage your floors like nobody's business. Follow the pointers above and you'll get stronger (SAFELY) in no time!!! The No.1 Key to Growing Stronger For The Rest Of Your Life:

The weight has to be the only thing that matters for the time being. For that one moment in time, even though the house is burning down around you... Even though the world is falling to Sh*t right next to you... Even though Bombs are going off right next to you... Even though you're being shot repeatedly... The only thing that matters to you in the moment is your TARGET. You have to be determined to move steadily and surely to your target. If you target is to dead-lift( which , buy the way, is an essential addition to any training program designed to help develop animal like strength) that 300 pound weight 5 times, then you have to muster every ounce of strength and will-power that you have inside you to get it off the ground. Just imagine how easily you could move any weight if I told you: If you don't move that weight, I WILL blow your brains out right now. Then how easy is it to move it? It is extremely f**kin' easy, I think, don't you? That's the reason why most people don't accomplish anything worth their while. If there is no urgency or emotional excitement fueling us, then we don't get anything done. You have to have powerful reasons and motivations to achieve anything. You can't see a persons " drive", but we can sure as hell sense it. You can sense the difference between a person who is DRIVEN and the person who is not Driven. Like how we can't see the wind, but we can see that it definitely moves the trees as it blows past them.... Always have a reason and motivations for the things we want to accomplish. Your motivations are like a battery that will see you through to your outcomes. This goes for Resistance Training especially, because it is Dead Weight. It cannot "consent" to letting us move it from it's position, whereas a person can, unless they are un-conscious.... Resistance training is a great indicator of the amount of will-power a person is able to exert at one time, I find. Have fun, Amir
